Terms of Service
The short version
- AI grades are estimates from photos, not certified grades, appraisals or offers. Only PCGS or NGC certify grades.
- Free accounts get monthly AI grades and the full database. Fair-use limits keep it free for everyone.
- Collector membership renews automatically every month at the price shown when you join (currently $12/month plus any tax) until you cancel. Cancel online any time in Account settings; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Be honest in listings and grading requests. No counterfeits or misleading descriptions.
- Refunds follow our Refund Policy. Marketplace trades follow the Marketplace Rules.

1. Agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and American Penny Power ("we", "us") about your use of americanpennypower.com and related services. By creating an account, buying, subscribing or using the site you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Accounts
You need to be at least 13 to create an account and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy, subscribe or use the marketplace. Keep your password private and tell us about any unauthorized use. An account may be signed in on a limited number of devices at once (currently 3). We may suspend accounts that break these Terms, abuse fair-use limits, or put others at risk.
3. AI grading and valuations
Grades, attributions, authenticity notes and values are automated estimates from photographs. They are not certified grades, appraisals, offers to buy, or investment advice, and they can be wrong. Photos can't show weight, sound, edge or some surface problems. Prices come from our dated price table compiled from public guides and auction records. Before buying, selling or insuring a coin, have it examined in hand or certified by PCGS or NGC. We are not affiliated with the U.S. Mint, PCGS or NGC.
4. Plans and fair use
Guests can try one demo grade. Free accounts with a confirmed email get a monthly allowance of AI grades, unlimited photo-quality checks, the full value database, learning tools and a basic cabinet. Collector members get unlimited grading under a fair-use policy: a generous monthly and daily pace (shown on the Pricing page); past that pace your grades still run but are queued and slower. Current limits are shown on the Pricing page and in your account. We may adjust them with notice; we won't reduce what a paid period already includes. Automated or bulk scraping, reselling grades, or sharing accounts isn't allowed.
5. Collector membership: automatic renewal
- Price and term: the Collector membership costs the monthly price shown next to the Join button when you subscribe (currently $12.00 per month, plus any applicable sales tax). It renews automatically every month and your card is charged on the same day each month until you cancel.
- Your consent: before you subscribe we show these terms next to the Join button and ask you to tick a box agreeing to automatic renewal. Checkout is handled by Stripe.
- Confirmation: after you join we email a confirmation with the price, billing frequency, and how to cancel.
- Cancel online, any time: go to Account settings → Membership → Manage or cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid month; you keep member features until then and won't be charged again. You don't need to call or email us. If you'd rather, email us from your account address and we'll cancel it for you.
- Reminders and price changes: we email a reminder each year you stay subscribed, and at least 7 days before any price increase, explaining how to cancel. Price changes apply only from your next billing date after the notice.
- Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails we'll email you and retry for a short grace period, during which member features keep working. If it still fails, your account moves to the Free plan. Your cabinet and data are kept.
- Refunds: see the Refund Policy, including our forgot-to-cancel refund.
- Downgrades keep your data: if your membership ends, nothing in your cabinet is deleted; features above the Free plan simply pause.
6. One-time purchases
Digital products and services (the Penny Hunter's Checklist, Photo Appraisal, Estate Coin Sort and bundles) are charged once at the price shown at checkout and unlock on your account when payment clears. Payment is processed by Stripe. On card statements charges appear as the Stripe account's name followed by "PENNY POWER".
7. Marketplace
The community market is governed by our Marketplace Rules, which are part of these Terms. Marketplace payments are not switched on yet; when they are, the rules describe fees, protections and disputes.
8. Your content
You own the photos and text you add. You give us a limited license to store, process (including AI analysis) and display them to run the service: privately for cabinet items, and publicly for anything you list on the market. You confirm you have the right to upload them. Don't upload anything illegal, infringing or containing other people's personal information.
9. Acceptable use
Don't: break the law; misrepresent coins; sell counterfeit or unmarked replica coins (the Hobby Protection Act requires replicas to be marked "COPY"); interfere with the site; try to get around limits, security or payments; or harvest other people's data.
10. Our content
The site's text, design, software and our own coin artwork belong to us or our licensors. Coin photographs credited on the credits page are used under their licenses.
11. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we don't promise the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or decisions made from estimates, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
13. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced to signed-in members before they take effect, and the version date above will change. You may stop using the site and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend access for violations.
14. Governing law and disputes
Please contact us first; most problems are solved quickly by email. The governing law and venue for disputes are not yet specified and will be added here once confirmed. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection laws where you live.
